Whether buying or renting, the Internet is a great way to find a new house. Not only can mortgage providers be researched and found but Portals such as www.realtor.com, www.rightmove.co.uk and www.realestate.com.au provide a one-stop place to find available properties.

Real Estate and the Internet

The property/Real Estate Portals have certainly taken over from individual Real Estate agent Websites. Before Portals, people would need to access many Websites (i.e. many independent Real Estate websites) to view a range of properties. Portals then came along and provided a single Website where visitors are able to see all properties advertised on that Portal. Portals are mostly good for property seekers however are an additional advertising expense for Real Estate agents; they now need their own Website and need to advertise on multiple Portals to get maximum exposure (as stated before, the Portals also only show visitors advertised/paid properties).

Use Google For Real Estate Search

The traditional Real Estate Portal is, however, not the end of the story. The power is shifting back to the Real Estate Websites in the form of Google. Google has a truly fantastic Search function which may be found at Google Maps. Put in any location and enter the Real Estate options and Google provides a map, descriptions and links to properties for sale or rent according to the Search criteria. Google is effectively now a Real Estate Portal which displays information from the entire Web (as opposed to other Real Estate Portals which only show those properties which constitute paid advertisements). So, no matter if a private individual, Portal or Estate Agent Website is advertising the sale or rental property Online, Google will show it.

Again Google shows its leadership in Web technology, functionality and usability.
